Massage Studio vs Massage Parlor

I have been a Certified Massage Therapist for 10+ years. I was very naïve during my early years, in massage school, our trainer made us aware of the difference between a massage therapist and masseuse.

• Massage Therapist: trained, certified and insured in their state of practice.

• Masseuse: not trained in an accredited program, certification not recognized by the state they work in, probably not i sured.

So now the nuts and bolts of the argument.

Most parlors are AAPI run and managed, they hire all ethnicities. Here are some pros and cons:

• May not be as sanitary

Massage Studios-

Pros

• Independently run

• Are not being coerced to work

• Images match ads, site and socials

• Outcalls are optional

• Authentic energy

• Higher End experience

• Lower volume

• Ethically compensated, no third party fee.

  Cons

• "Available now? "- No

• Most providers require booking in advance

• Screening is required for safety

• Most require deposits to deter cancelations

• You will need to confirm a provider is not a scam- time consuming.

• Most only respond to thoughtful online booking request.

• Unsafe practices may not be available

• Higher cost due to over head

Bottom line, convenience or custom sessions, depend on preference
